“Sewing Time” is going on in Shanghai, China. In 8 special featured exhibition areas, Hermes Group tells the long story of 173 years between Hermes brand and leathers by generational treasured leathers and traditional handicrafts. Among all of the editions, 32cm honey color crocodile and golden wild pigeon feathers Hermes Kelly is the first to be shown to the public. It is designed by Hermes Paris leather workshop as a special gift for the “sewing time” in Shanghai. There is only one in all over the world, which really can be called a treasure.
As the senior classic in Hermes leather series, Hermes Kelly plays a prolonged tale of marvels through the veil of time. At first,Hermes Kelly was designed as a mochilla for hunters. In 1930, Hermes group adjusted the size of this mochilla into appropriate size for women`s daily use. In 1956, a charming and moving cover shoot on magazine Life captured many people`s hearts. Soon, Hermes group got the approval of Monaco royal family and named the bag as Hermes Kelly. Since then, Hermes Kelly were sought-after by many people and regarded as symbol of elegance.
In order to remember this “sewing time”- the first show of Hermes leatherware show in Shanghai, China, Hermes group designed this special Hermes Kelly in crocodile leather and rare golden wild pigeon feathers. There is only one piece in the world. The valuable point of this unique Hermes Kelly is on its rare material and exquisite workmanship. It is the first time that Hermes tries to mix feathers, rose gold, diamond and crocodile together to produce bags and finish it like nature itself by wonderful workmanship. Hermes leather work shop in Paris spent four days producing this honey color smooth crocodile, which makes the bag look graceful and poised. Golden wild pigeon feathers closely aligned to ornament the bag, which is the special design by CCO Couli Jobert of Hermes Leather and harness tools to salute to Chinese traditional cultures. All of the golden feathers are put in order by famous feathers manufacturing master Lemarie manually in 10 hours. 229 pieces brown diamonds are perfectly inlayed in the rose gold lock. It is the brain child of skillful craftsmen in one month.
This special 32cm honey color Hermes Kelly will be a delicate touch of this “Sewing Time” show. It passes the passion and enthusiasm of Hermes family to high grade leathers and the constant craving to exquisite craftsmanship and prolonged value.
